Tadalafil

Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor best known as the active ingredient in Cialis®, often dubbed the “weekend pill” for erectile dysfunction due to its long-lasting effect. It improves erectile function by increasing blood flow to erectile tissues. Beyond ED, it’s used for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and pulmonary arterial hypertension in lower doses. In fitness, some use low-dose Tadalafil for improved pumps during workouts, as it can enhance nitric oxide-mediated vasodilation.

Dosage & Usage
For ED: Take 10–20 mg at least 30–60 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. The effects can last a day and a half. Only one dose per 24–36 hours is recommended. This liquid is 30 mL at 30 mg/mL; 0.5 mL = 15 mg, 0.66 mL = ~20 mg. Use the dropper to measure, squirt into a beverage or directly in mouth (it may be bitter) and swallow. Alternatively, daily low-dose: 5 mg once daily (which is 0.17 mL of this solution – a bit hard to measure precisely, so might dilute it or use a fine syringe). Daily dosing at 5 mg can provide continuous erectile support and is an approved regimen for BPH as well. If using for workout pumps: 5–10 mg about 1 hour pre-workout. Avoid excessive alcohol when using Tadalafil, as it can drop blood pressure. It can be taken with or without food (high-fat meals do not significantly affect absorption). If the dropper form is inconvenient for precise small dose (like 5 mg), consider using a calibrated syringe. Store at room temperature, keep out of reach of children (to them it might look like some flavored liquid, which it’s not).
Mechanism of Action
Yohimbine works by increasing adrenaline (epinephrine) levels and blocking alpha-2 adrenergic receptors in fat cells, which removes the natural brake on fat burning. This leads to enhanced lipolysis (fat breakdown) and makes stored fat, especially abdominal fat, more available as fuel. It also triggers a release of norepinephrine, acting as a general stimulant. By antagonizing receptors that would normally blunt fat metabolism, Yohimbine effectively amplifies the body’s ability to burn fat during exercise. Its stimulatory effect on the central nervous system also explains its benefits for libido and erectile function (via increased blood flow and nerve stimulation).

It’s generally a very safe drug when used appropriately. Side effects: can include headaches (from vasodilation), facial flushing, nasal congestion, heartburn/acid reflux (relaxation of esophageal sphincter somewhat), and back or muscle aches (the “Cialis backache” some get, possibly due to PDE-11). These side effects are dose-dependent and often mild. They tend to subside as the drug wears off. Because of the long action, any side effect you do get can last longer too – keep that in mind. Rarely, users may experience a slight blue tinge in vision or increased sensitivity to light (though that’s more common with Viagra due to PDE-6). Important: Seek medical care if an erection lasts more than 4 hours (priapism), though that’s very rare with Tadalafil at normal doses. Additionally, Tadalafil (like other PDE5 inhibitors) shouldn’t be used if you’re on nitrates (like nitroglycerin for chest pain) – the combination can cause a dangerous blood pressure drop. Also use caution if on alpha-blockers for blood pressure/BPH; spacing them out from Tadalafil is advised. For healthy individuals using it recreationally or for gym pumps, just be mindful of hydration and not stacking too many vasodilatory supplements. Many find a nice synergy between low-dose Tadalafil (5 mg) and something like L-citrulline for crazy pumps in the gym. Tadalafil has a shelf-life of a few years – keep the bottle tightly closed to prevent evaporation of solvent. And of course, while it may indirectly improve confidence or quality of life, it’s not an aphrodisiac – psychological/sexual stimulation is required to see its main effect.
